PHNOM PENH NIGHTLIFE

Phnom Penh has grown so much in the past couple of years that I now get lost in a city that I once could walk around with confidence, easily identifying my location by looking for one of only a few five-story structures that made up its skyline. Today, however, the buildings below sit on a piece of land that once was the slum area where I would visit with my medical bag.

As impressive as it looks in the daytime, the night scene is even more spectacular, with tourist ferries slowly churning the waters of the Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers.

Several of the Wat Opot High School students were staying in town for the week-end for a seminar on Anger Management, so we decided to pack our evening meal and take them out on one of the boats that are for hire by the hour for only $30.00.

A cool evening breeze made the excursion even more enjoyable after yet another scorching hot day.

We were especially happy that Scott could join us for the occasion. He is often not seen because he is the one taking the pictures.
