We have been busy this past few days getting to know better the new SAHAKA children. We started with the kids in Takeo with a luncheon at our favorite restaurant. Many of these kids are from broken homes and so the experience of being together for the first time in a setting that is usually reserved for the elite took some getting use to… but adjustments were made and they all had a good time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We started with introductions since many of the children do not know each other,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Followed by a lunch and more food than they could eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After lunch Dara explained the goals of SAHAKA and asked them to share some of their needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then they were given time to enjoy the many attractions on the grounds of the restaurant.These are the new SAHAKA children in Takeo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next day we drove to Prey Veng to repeat the same program with the new SAHAKA children there.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meal was not as elaborate but everyone got their fill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dara presented the same program and ask them to share their needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the program each of the children were asked to introduce themself in English.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are the new SAHAKA kids in Prey Veng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the sharing time we learned of some immediate needs that could not be ignored. Four of the families said they had no rice to eat and one of the children shared she had to walk with her sister 2 miles everyday for school.,, and so on Wednesday we spent much of the day doing home visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were very grateful to have had the funds available to provide the basic needs for these vulnerable families. At this time the work of SAHAKA is dependent solely on private donors, just like you. \u00a0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
