A Week Of Reunions

With both Melinda and Kate back in Cambodia for a few days, The SAHAKA Foundation, arranged for several reunions with both old and new members. It was a very busy time but well worth the effort. Although we have grown out of the “Watopotian” name, we have not lost our sense of being family.

Yes, we are now SAHAKA and here are just a few of the highlights of the past few days. Here we are on the rooftop of my apartment welcoming Melinda’s return.

This next picture is taken at Chiso Mountain. Old and new members of SAHAKA were introduced to Melinda and Kate , as well as to each other. Most of the contact with new members is in home visits by Dara and myself, and so they have not yet met the other members of the SAHAKA Family.

On another day we spent several hours with some of Josh’s friends from a Muslim community close to where he lives, and had a luncheon with them along the Mekong River.

After lunch we all went to the Five Star Sokha Hotel…

and had their beautiful swimming pool all to ourselves.

In the evening we had pizza at Pasta Corner where Seng Hak works.

And the following day we stopped at the zoo for lunch before taking the kids home.

It was an expensive few days but it gave us a chance to show them a side of life that most have never experienced and a chance to meet and interact with children from a community different from their own. Fortunately most of the expenses did not come from SAHAKA funds and we are very grateful for those who covered the expenses.

The SAHAKA donation page is available for those who may want to help us in this coming year with a tax-deductible donation to buy educational materials and uniforms for the children we support. If you live in Cambodia, you can make a QR donation (below) to the SAHAKA FOUNDATION. At this time, we are running on private donations only.
