A Day Away

We left Phnom Penh at 6 AM with our university students to avoid morning traffic. Traveling south on familiar roads, we went to Bati and stopped at a popular noodle shop just outside of Wat Opot for breakfast.

After breakfast, we continued our travels to Takeo and beyond, until we reached the Wat Serei Oudom pagoda to meet with the Venerable Abbot Sovannarith, a former Watopotian.

His donation of two computers to support our students was greatly appreciated. Additionally, his example of how hard work and determination can improve one’s social standing offers a valuable lesson for those just beginning their journey. Sovannarith is pursuing his Master’s degree in Law.

Our travels continued to the beautiful but crowded shores of Kep, where we enjoyed a seafood luncheon on the beach.

We ended our day back in Bati at one of our favorite family restaurants for dinner. It was a good day of reminiscing… and of planning for the future, when these Watopotian students will serve as the examples for the new-young SAHAKA children.

The SAHAKA donation page is available for those who may want to help us in this coming year with a tax-deductible donation. If you live in Cambodia, you can make a QR donation (below) to the SAHAKA FOUNDATION. At this time, we are running on private donations only.
